Not Your Average Teacher!
I graduated from Western Michigan in 2005 and promptly went to work in whatever industry I thought I was meant for. This led me around the state of Michigan (with a stop for a year in Chicago) doing everything from sales to purchasing to working third shift in a plant. Finally in 2009, my realization of what I was meant to do led me back to WMU to pursue my certification in Secondary Education, emphasizing English. Being an older than average student and having worked the different jobs, experiencing the different things, it all gave me new perspectives on life and teaching. i carry those with me into the classroom and try to be more realistic about what we are learning.
In my spare time, I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend Nikki, who is finishing nursing school at WMU. I also own a goofy golden retriever named Gordie - 95lbs of affection, whether you like him or not!
I am a very active person and am involved in many sports, not just what i coach. I continue to play very competitive ice hockey whenever I get the chance. I am a novice golfer, and avid outdoorsman, and to keep up with the kids I coach, I thoroughly enjoy working out whenever I get time to. Aside from these activities, I am pretty handy in the kitchen and with a grill, I read a ton (obviously!) and lastly, I am a huge fantasy baseball fanatic.
